After losing a spouse, many widows are trying to grasp the new situation they find themselves in. Widow2Widow (W2W) offers connection, companionship, and community where women – like Gladys – can discuss their personal challenges and concerns of widowhood.
At her first meeting, Gladys felt comfortable to share her losses; she had a sense of security, knowing that everyone there was in the same situation as she was. Out of this experience, Gladys became eager to read the Scriptures and joined a Connecting Streams’ Bible study where she found trustworthy people to come alongside and help her understand God’s Word. Gladys came to know Jesus and experience His love. She found courage and was baptized.
“Because of the W2W group and their inspiration, I am now a part of a new family – God’s family,” she says. Gladys is also committed to seeing others come to know Jesus, and is now reaching out to women in prison.
Connecting Streams challenges, encourages, and equips people to faithfully follow Jesus into a broken and hurting world. By partnering with local churches and other agencies, Connecting Streams provides volunteer outreach opportunities in correctional institutions, seniors’ communities, inner city residences and other venues.
