1972 – Len Neufeld

Len shares his first exposure to Campus Crusade for Christ and what struck him about the message:

It all started when my sister was prompted by her pastor to go to an event in Green Lake, Wisconsin. She didn’t want to go by herself, so my wife and I came with her. We got there and found out it was called a “Lay Institute for Evangelism Seminar” done by an organization called Campus Crusade for Christ. Howard Ball did the messages and taught the seminars. Right from the start, I was impressed by how effective it was and yet simple. It didn’t take a Ph.D. to learn something. This message was for people who did not go to seminary school. It was for those who just sat in the pews. That’s what caught my attention – simple, transferable methods, all done in the power of the Holy Spirit. So, back home we held an exploratory meeting. We started teaching simple principles that we gave to teenage kids and made sure that Christ was shared simply. We then sent the teenage kids we taught out to the community around us to share Christ.
