Come, the banquet is ready

Nov 4, 2016

As Christmas approaches, you are likely to receive all sorts of invitations: you might be invited to Christmas dinner with extended family, a Christmas play put on by a community theatre group, or a Christmas Eve church service. Isn’t it wonderful to be invited?

In Luke 14:15-24, Jesus tells the story of a man who invited many guests to a great banquet. When everything was ready, he sent his servant out to tell his guests, “Come, the banquet is ready.” But each of them had an excuse for why they couldn’t come. The man then told his servant to go out into the town and countryside to invite anyone to the banquet, no conditions.

The banquet is a metaphor for God’s kingdom. As Christians, each of us has been invited and welcomed into God’s house, but like Jesus says in verse 22, “There is still room for more!” He asks us to go out and invite more people, so that His house may be full.

At Power to Change, we try to be like the servant in that story. The master sent the servant to go into the streets and alleys and country lanes. Just like the servant, each of our eleven ministries and partners goes out into a different part of the world, inviting people to know Jesus and experience His power to change.

We invite you to join us in our mission. There are still so many people who need to know Jesus and receive His invitation to come to the great banquet. This Christmas, please consider giving to one of our ministries or partners as we follow the call of Jesus to fill up God’s house.
