Grow your faith at Break Forth Canada 2017

For the last 20 years, Break Forth Canada has been a gathering place for Christ-followers to be renewed, equipped and unleashed! It’s a conference where every Christian can learn, find encouragement and be empowered in their faith.

Last year, when the founders of Break Forth, Arlen and Elsa Salte, handed the event to Power to Change, FamilyLife Canada (a ministry of P2C) took the conference under its wing. “We were asked to do it on behalf of Power to Change, and it felt like God was asking us to do it as well, so we did,” Sharol Josephson, Director of FamilyLife, says.

The theme this year is focused on unity and oneness: 1 God. 1 Church. 1 Weekend. When asked how they came up with this theme, Elizabeth Josephson, Break Forth Canada Event Director explained, “We met with a group of pastors and asked them ‘What’s the biggest problem that your church is facing?’ and they all said ‘unity’. That’s what we want to celebrate!”

“We gather around Jesus Christ,” Sharol adds. “Instead of focussing on the differences as Christians we focus on what’s the same and what we stand united on.”

“Our prayer is that this would stimulate and catalyze something bigger…”

New and exciting things are happening at Break Forth. There’s a partnership with the Gospel Music Association (GMA), digital registration and a new stage. In addition, the Gospel Music Association’s COVENANT AWARDS — honouring the best in Canadian Christian music — will be held in conjunction with Break Forth this year. The GMA will also host the pre-conference Worship Arts Intensive Learning Workshops on Friday. Along with those workshops, the weekend includes elective classes, a film festival, concerts, main assemblies and an exhibit show.

On the new stage, there will be a variety of great speakers, intersected by short acoustic sets from GMA musicians. “It’s going to be a really dynamic stage,” Sharol says. “We’ve invited the public too, so that’s open to people who just want to stop by and sit in that area.” At Stage 1, in Hall D on Saturday, January 28th, anyone can get a taste of Break Forth.

Sharol adds, “The whole point is to go and grow! If you want to grow, you need to expand your horizons, hear new things and learn from new people. There’s something about the larger body of Christ coming together in its entirety, that’s very nourishing and encouraging.”

Community with other believers is essential to connection, depth and relationships. “I hope that people leave with a deeper love for Jesus and a renewed passion for being Christ-followers,” Sharol says. “I would like people to also have something in their hands, a new tool or a new resource or a new idea to try in their churches or in their community.”

“Our prayer is that this would stimulate and catalyze something bigger so it wouldn’t just be one weekend and done, but it would lead to deeper and more significant spiritual growth year round.”

Join us January 27-29th, 2017 at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.

“The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.” John 17:22-23 (NIV)
