Linda uses the Jesus Film to minister to a village in Cameroon and receives a powerful response from the locals:
On a trip to Cameroon, in West Africa, we arrived at the place we were to minister to the locals in the evening. A soon as we got out, we wondered where the people were. Once it became dark, they started to come out of the bush from all over. There were a few missionaries in the area that we worked with. There was an invitation for people to come forward if you had prayed and asked Jesus into your heart, and the whole crowd moved forward. The person on the mic then said, “Wait a minute, let me explain the Gospel again.” After he explained it, he then said, “If you prayed and asked Jesus into your heart, come forward.” They all moved forward. The missionaries could not believe it!
The missionaries were overwhelmed by the response. The next steps after showing the film were to establish the people who came to Christ in an existing church in the area or to help create one. The next thing we did was speak to the leaders of the communities and the church leaders about training and planting a church. Three years later, the head of one of the denominations spoke during a dinner for all the pastors and said, “We’ve seen more church growth in three years than we have in the previous fifty years.”
