Spring Break mission trips; laying groundwork for Olympic chaplaincy

If Jesus Christ is the lifeblood of Power to Change, our ministries are the heartbeat. Every two weeks we’ll be checking their pulse, sharing blog posts, stories and events from our 10 ministries and humanitarian partner. This is P2C Pulse.

Ministry Updates

  • Our student ministry recently embarked on mission trips over spring break and brought back some great stories! Let’s start in Montreal, where difficult questions opened the door to sharing the gospel. [P2C – Students]

On to Denmark, where many Danes were confronted with existential questions of meaning and spirituality that they had never encountered before and the students on the trip were forever changed. “I knowingly said yes to going to Denmark, yet unknowingly said yes to having my whole life changed in the process.” [P2C – Students]

Finally to Norway, where Canadian students helped mobilize students in Oslo to share the gospel and found that Norwegian students were spiritually curious. Be in prayer that an Agapé (Europe’s Power to Change) student group will form in Oslo. [P2C – Students]

  • Athletes in Action chaplain Steve Sellers made his way in South Korea to lay the groundwork for chaplaincy for the 2018 Winter Olympics and to minister to speed skaters and luge athletes competing in the World Championship and World Cup. Find out more about the connections he made with the local church and Olympic organizers. [Athletes in Action]
  • Many of the marginalized (including the homeless) of our inner-city are members of the Body of Christ. They need to be acknowledged, loved by the rest of the body, discipled, and included.” [Connecting Streams]

  • If you don’t want to be a couple that fights all the time, the first step is understanding why couples fight. Dr. Jessica McCleese breaks down the reasons couples fight and lays out some effective ways to reduce conflict. [FamilyLife]

  • We’re partway through the season of Lent and Easter is on its way. The Life has a Bible reading guide for Holy Week leading up to Sunday to help you reflect on the final week of Jesus’ pre-resurrection life. [The Life]

  • Garth Jestley breaks down the benefits of solitude and how important it is to make time in your day for spending time alone with God. [LeaderImpact]

  • GAiN Canada shares about the difficult and heartbreaking situation in Mosul, Iraq, where they have partners on the ground providing aid and daily necessities to refugees. [GAiN Canada]
