Video by BibleProject, words by Sam Robins.

Quick! Come in, out of the wild world! Wrap yourself in these words. Be comforted as you pause on your pilgrimage.

Yes, you are welcome in my sentences. You are wanted here. Oh, don’t be silly, you are never an intrusion. People are always precious gifts, however you come, whatever you take or leave behind.

People are always precious gifts.

Indeed, lay down that load! You have quite the caravan coming along with you. But I understand: it’s confusing to be in exile, neither here nor there. We have plenty of baggage from the past, yet still we wonder what else to pick up along the way. I have a hunch we only need to arrive with ourselves and an expectation of grace.

Arrival? Oh yes, there will be one. One day we will find ourselves returned. Though I can’t tell you how soon or how far. But I can promise: Home does exist. The stories are true. Don’t settle for any cheap knock-offs for no house now is truly Home. Even my words are a temporary shelter. But here, have my hospitality.

Oh, Traveller, you won’t be able to stay longer than you need. You’ll go, and I’ll send you out as best I can. But rest now. Rest and be reminded that Home is a long way off, but praise God there is a way.

I’m a storyteller, a bard, a dreamer. While you stay, I’ll remind you of Eden, that beautiful untamed garden. I’ll sing of the Promised Land, that garden of milk and honey. I’ll whisper of the Garden City, coming soon for us – faster than we journey towards it!

Yes, dear Exile, rest. Fear not! There is Home, and he comes for you.
