Despite former astronaut Julie Payette’s incredulity over people who still question whether the origin of life was by divine intervention or by some random natural process, there are other astronauts who believe there is a Creator, including the shuttle pilot for one of the missions she participated in.
Even a former astronaut can confuse scientism with science. Scientism is essentially atheism dressed up in a lab coat. The result is an unquestioning faith in the belief that science can explain everything, including the origin of love, beauty, and even nature itself.
The discovery of extraterrestrial life could be the death knell for atheism, at least for the thinking atheist. On the other hand, it should not be at all surprising for someone holding the Christian world view that God is the creator of life in the universe.
The final moments of a person’s life can sometimes be of enormous importance, as they see with singular clarity what is of ultimate importance … sometimes with a greater perceptive ability than they have ever experienced before.
