Over time Mike realized that there is no specific “type” of person that makes a church planter. It’s a person with a love for God and his people, a desire to see his church grow, and goes ahead and does so in faith.
Advent is this ache. It is the sober realization that the world is broken and that we are a broken people. Yet, it is also the hopeful anticipation of a day of balanced scales and everything good overthrowing and defeating everything bad, once for all.
There are four things I want you to do before you transition to university in September. And it all begins with the question: How am I going to prioritize my walk with Jesus to ensure it thrives at university?
College and university can be a place of immense growth, fruitfulness, transformation, and joy. A place where your faith thrives rather than just survives. I want that for you. But it isn’t going to happen by accident. It is going to take intentionality, prayer, courage and perseverance.
Finding a church may not be easy. But this uneasiness is to sanctify you by helping you stretch a little out of your comfort zone and learn to worship God with other brothers and sisters who are different than you in age, socioeconomic status, or race. This is what heaven is going to be like, and you are missing out on a little piece of heaven when you only look for something that perfectly fits your profile.
