Seeing as to how it is Good Friday, the day we commonly celebrate as the day of Jesus’ resurrection, let us consider for a moment what Christ has done for us. He was betrayed, denied and abandoned by those closest to him. He was beaten, mocked and scorned though innocent of all accusation. He was forced to bear the weight of a wood beam (about 100 lbs) on his shoulders, a beam that would have been equally painful to carry as it was heavy, carrying it over half a kilometer from Jerusalem to Golgotha . This beam would have rested on His lashed back and pressed the crown of thorns into his skull. According to Matthew, Mark and Luke’s accounts, Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus carry the cross. He was then crucified, his hands nailed to the beam and his feet nailed together to the upright support of the cross. Again, he was mocked and scorned, while he bled and suffocated until His death. Greater than all of this pain He endured, Jesus bore the weight of our sin, the innocent sacrificial Lamb of God, the only way that fallen man could be reconciled back to God. Praise the Lord for this wonderful gift of salvation and the pain He bore on our behalf!!!
From our last weekly gathering yesterday. A great inspirational talk from Matt and a talk from Kendra on “How does the Gospel apply to my future plans?”.
