What if your year after graduation was an adventure?
More than travel, it could be immersion in a new culture. Where you’re invited into homes for meals, where you’re able to linger in deep conversations, and where you’re learning a new friend’s heart language, to help them hear about Jesus for the first time.
More than a job, it could be a deep community of Christians. New believers, local mentors, Canadian peers, international colleagues, and Christian university students who are eager to receive training: people who want you to join in their country’s vision and goals.
More than learning skills, it could be learning your call. Experience what it’s like to offer your professional skills to God. Explore his heart and your career. Get a taste of serving in specialized ways to see about long-term opportunities.
Next year could be a global internship with P2C-Students.
In 2025, we’re sending global interns to Vietnam, Desert Rain, and New Zealand. Learn more here.
For all global internships, we are looking for people who are:
Teachable: willing to learn a new culture from locals and to participate in language classes. It’s Ideal to already have cross-cultural experience.
Flexible: adapting to the unknowns of a new team, new environment, and new lifestyle of ministry. This is not a 9-5!
Collaborative: able to work on a team, as a team player, with people from Canada, your internship location, and around the world.
Relational: able to meet and cultivate new friendships, especially in the contexts of discipleship and evangelism.
Passionate: having a deep love for God, and a desire to cultivate a relationship with him.
Your priorities on a global internship:
- Love God
- Love your team
- Love your neighbour
- Learn a culture
- Live missionally

What does a global internship look like?
One time, my ministry partner and I shared the gospel with a student while kayaking, and I remember thinking, “Wow, I can’t believe this is my job!”
Elim, global intern
Typically, global interns do four main things:
- Learn a language and culture
- Introduce people to Jesus
- Mentor new believers
- Equip local Christian students to live on mission
Throughout, global interns work on a team. This includes partnering with local ministries and churches to ensure that there are healthy long-term impacts. And it includes receiving times of personal development.

It profoundly refined my perspective on faith and ministry, strengthened my personal relationship with God, and deepened my understanding of God’s desire for all nations to know him.
Alec, global intern
A typical global internship is 10 months in an international location, plus four months of training and raising support (see below).
Here’s an approximate schedule:
- March 1: Applications due
- March–April: Interviews and acceptance
- Early May: New staff training
- May–July: Support raising (MPD)
- August: Global intern briefing (a week-long conference) and departure
- September to June: Serve globally! (with mid-year retreat, evaluation, and conference)

It’s often possible (and encouraged!) to do a second global internship in the same location. This requires a second round of applications and support raising, which would shift the timeline that’s laid out here.
Will I have coworkers? Who will they be?
Yes! We believe healthy teams are vital for success and we will not send you to work by yourself.
Your team will be made of other global interns and/or P2C staff. It’s likely that in-country you’ll also interact with local staff and staff from other countries.
What kind of training will I receive?
You’ll attend new staff training in May and global intern briefing in August before you leave for your location. Throughout the year, you and your team will follow a training curriculum.
How do I know if God is calling me to work in ministry?
We offer global internships in part because discernment is a process. Taking one year to explore overseas ministry is a relatively safe way to just try and see how it fits. At the very least, you’ll gain valuable international and cross-cultural experience.
It’s important to discern with others. Talk to your church leaders and local P2C-Students staff. The Global Missions Team would love to talk to you too!
When discerning, you can always find reasons to do one thing or another. A list of pros and cons are helpful, but it won’t tell you what you ought to do. What helped me was to pray for clarity and courage to obey God’s will.
Gianna, global intern
Application process
Applying for a global internship is like applying for a job. There’s an initial online application—which includes five references—and then interviews.
The online application portal gives more instructions about the process of applying.
Applications are due March 1.
If you’re not sure if God is calling you to go, just try it! He’ll redirect you if it’s not the right path. But if it is, you will see God show up for you and use you in ways you could have never imagined.
Gianna, global intern
How long does the application process take?
Once the application materials are complete and all references are received, you can expect to hear back in 4-6 weeks. Online applications open November 1 and we recommend applying as soon as you can.
Are there any academic or other requirements for doing a global internship?
Applicants must have some sort of completed post-secondary education. We strongly recommend that you have mission trip experience, especially in the country to which you hope to go.
What if my application is late?
Due to our team’s limited capacity, we can’t guarantee that we will process applications after the deadline. The application deadline is March 1. An application is complete when we receive your application and all references. It is the applicant’s responsibility to complete everything by March 1.
Raising support
As a global intern with P2C-Students you’ll raise financial support for your salary and ministry expenses through the process of “Ministry Partner Development” (MPD). It’s an opportunity to trust God and invite Christians in your communities to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of students.
Along with financial partners, you’ll raise up a team of prayer partners to come alongside you during your ministry year. Many staff have expressed gratitude for the MPD process because it means they have a whole team of people encouraging and praying for them. We think it’s vital for you to be sent out with the blessing of your faith communities.
[Interning] gave me a first hand experience as to what global missions looks like, so now I’m able to better support current missionaries.
Jeremia, global intern
What am I raising financial support for?
Your salary, health insurance, retreats, conferences, airfare, and all travel costs will be covered by your team of financial supporters. The total amount of needed support varies by location.
When will I receive training on how to raise support?
Global interns learn how to develop a team of ministry partners in May, during new staff training. In the following months of support raising, you’ll have a coach who will guide and encourage you through the process.
What if I don’t meet my fundraising goal?
To make sure our global interns are healthy, we require that they raise their full amount of support before going abroad. If someone hasn’t yet reached their goal, we’ll evaluate their situation on a case-by-case basis.
Generally, if someone is close to their goal, they might stay in Canada a bit longer to finish fundraising, and then go. If someone is not close to their goal, unfortunately we are not able to send them. The (very few) people who do not see their support come in are still thankful they took the step of faith to try.
What if I have student loans or other debt?
You’ll be earning a salary while you’re a global intern, so in most cases it’s possible to start paying off loans during your internship. So being in debt does not automatically disqualify you from serving as an intern. We will assess each candidate’s situation on a case-by-case basis. Part of the application process is to gather more information (individual loan amounts, interest rates, monthly payments, etc.).
Where can you go?
Vietnam
Love God. Love your neighbour. Love your team. Learn a culture.
Vietnam is a fast growing country of 100 million people. 1.7 million are Christians. The vision for Vietnam is to have 10 million Christians by 2033 and would send 100,000 multiplying leaders. Students in Vietnam are open to the gospel and take their next step toward Jesus. The country is open now. The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Learn Vietnamese through language classes and build genuine friends and journey with your friends toward Jesus.
Desert Rain
Love God. Love your neighbour. Love your team. Learn a culture.
As a Global Intern in Desert Rain you will work on an international team to help develop the long-term partnership in this country where most people do not know Jesus. You and your teammates will actively engage with local students, take language classes, and plan events. Hospitality, friendship, and contextualization are so important, so this is a great opportunity to serve and learn.
You will get to meet local believers, develop your skills in outreach and leadership, and grow your heart for God and the nations. Come learn who the people of Desert Rain are, how Jesus is revealing himself, and how you can respond to the Holy Spirit at work in your life and in those around you. We call this place “Desert Rain” because of what we see God doing here:
Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19
New Zealand
Global Operations Internship.
Did you know that operational roles are critical to helping people around the world take their next steps toward Jesus? To effectively reach a whole nation, mission-essential roles need to be in place, like finance, information technology, event planning, marketing and creative design.
Join the first operations-focused global internship team, which is going to Auckland, New Zealand in the fall of 2025! We’re sending a blended Canadian and American team, in partnership with the US (Cru), to live and work with the P2C ministry (called Tandem ministries) in New Zealand. This team will serve ministries throughout the Pacific Islands.
These nations are exciting to serve. People in Fiji, Vanuatu, Guam, Tonga, Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea are open and responsive to the gospel. And believers from these countries can more easily access places that are restrictive to Western believers.
Here is a short video to hear from the president of Tandem Ministries, Justin O’Malley, about the opportunity to intern in New Zealand.

I am so grateful. It was so stretching, but the things that God taught me, the relationships built with local staff, teammates and students, and the learned beauty of another culture are things I will cherish for a long time. I pray God will grant others the same opportunity to go . . . and that many would say yes in faith!
