Power to Change – Students (P2C-Students) is committed to modeling the way of Jesus in this time as we follow the directives of our public health officials in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. We aim to be courageous, wise, and loving in our response to this situation. We are putting measures in place to keep our communities and our neighbours healthy and safe, while continuing to pursue the mission that God has given us.
Campus Ministry
Effective March 13, our campus activities requiring face-to-face contact are suspended for the next 4 weeks. We’re holding on to our calling to form diverse communities in this season, recognizing the need we all have for fellowship and support, so we will seek alternative ways to form community online. Students involved in our ministry on campus have been advised to contact their local leaders for further guidance on what this looks like for their campus.
P2C-Students Staff
In order to comply with government recommendations regarding social distancing, we have requested that any staff who normally work in an office environment or on campus to work from home for the foreseeable future. We want to care for our staff and their families, and all those with whom they would come in contact.
Global Mission Trips
Because of international travel restrictions, we’ve made the difficult decision to suspend our upcoming summer international mission trips. All participants and related parties will be given further information in the coming weeks.
Annual Events
All of this year’s “All of Life” Annual Events have been canceled (in Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Montreal, Ottawa, Saskatoon, Vancouver, Toronto, Winnipeg, and Windsor). We plan to host an online version of these celebration and fundraising events at a later time this year. If you have any further questions, please email p2cstudents.events@p2c.com.
In the midst of a difficult season on campus and in our world, the heart of our ministry remains unchanged, despite the need to adapt our activities: we’re seeking to form diverse communities that help students to discover the relevance of Jesus for all of life.
Although we are disappointed that these various ministry opportunities and events can’t happen right now, the safety of each person within our communities remains our priority. Please join us in praying for everybody affected by COVID-19, and the healthcare workers who are responding to and treating them.
Would you also join us in praying that we would find creative ways to continue helping students to discover the relevance of Jesus for all of life, especially during this time of global health crisis? Along with the need to respond quickly to protect people, we also see a clear need and opportunity in this season of social isolation for community and the love of Jesus.
One resource that has been helpful and encouraging in this season is Andy Crouch’s article “Love in the time of Coronavirus”. We want to demonstrate love for our neighbours by both limiting our activities and by expanding our activities; by protecting physically while continuing to reach out with practical love and care.
