Making connections and impacting families

Transitioning to college or university is an exciting milestone, but it’s one that can cause Christian students to struggle in their faith. Alarmingly, many students who enter university calling themselves Christians are not walking with Jesus by the time they graduate.

Tom and Kim raised their children to know and love Jesus and desire to see them continue following in that legacy. As their son Caleb was preparing to head off to university in 2015, Tom connected him with a Power to Change staff member. These two formed a friendship, and Caleb was able to get connected with the Power to Change community on his new campus.

Right away Caleb made friends with other Christians in his engineering program. He joined a small group, grew through conferences and retreats, and took a step of faith to go on a mission trip to Desert Rain in the summer. This past school year, Caleb stepped up to help lead a small group and is now having an impact on other students as well. A highlight of the year for both Caleb and his parents was his baptism this spring.

Tom and Kim are very grateful that the Power to Change community on Caleb’s campus is helping him thrive in his time as a student. Caleb is becoming strong and stable in his faith and continuing in the way he was raised. Tom says, “Seeing Caleb grow spurs me on in how to walk as a Christian too. My children are my legacy so it’s encouraging to see Caleb becoming a mature adult who is connected with Christian community.”

Tom and Kim’s daughter is now considering a program of study at the same university. They are thankful that Caleb will be able to help her get connected with Christian community as well.
