syncopated rhythms

hello there spring
the world’s awake
bold blue backdrop
gold-brushed rays
both sun and sky
collaborate
peace permeates
this grace-filled space
ice melts and I
embrace your gaze
reflected
in a mid-March way

can’t this hour
last for days?

tomorrow knocks me
two steps back
with frigid air
each breath a gasp
wind’s whistle
pierces through my chest
clouds hide your face
Lord, have you left?
have you withdrawn
from my distress?
please
tell this storm to take a rest

are only easy seasons
blessed?

rain-days fermata
clear skies transition
I fight
God’s syncopated rhythms
why
won’t earth rush to resolution?
to my delight
or great frustration
slow wisdom
orchestrates each season
whether
lament or celebration

there is a time for everything
