Position Overview

The Elite Initiatives Director is responsible for leading AIA nationally and through serving as part of the National Leadership Team to help people know Jesus and experience his power to change the world through sport. This person is also responsible for the effective leadership and management of the elite initiatives domain. This includes fulfillment and accountability of the ministry plan through OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), oversight of finances (budget, fundraising), visioning for the future, and expanding the current influence of their domain. They will work in conjunction with other AIA leaders to ensure intentional care and development of staff (MPD, training), recruit new staff, and to build strategic partnerships with other ministries and churches.

Specifically, the Elite Initiatives Director will look to increase the influence and impact of chaplaincy within the elite athletic community in Canada. There are many leagues and other opportunities to expand chaplaincy and this leader will envision and work out a plan to step into these areas. Their mandate is also to continue, alter, or transition the current impact our chaplains have in various sport leagues and with national athletes.

Primary Objectives:

1. Provide vision, leadership, and management for AIA chaplaincy with the goal of increasing influence and impact. 

  • Cast vision and dream future possibilities to inspire current team
  • Create and implement a ministry plan, including OKRs, for your domain and regularly analyze the effectiveness of the plan and strategies
  • Research and identify untapped ministry opportunities in elite sport
  • Prototype ideas for solutions to needs within your domain
  • Establish partnerships with churches and other organizations
  • Recruitment plan in order to expand to new areas of chaplaincy
  • Manage the team in order to ensure clear direction and accountability

2. Equip, empower, and enable staff to flourish in their roles

  • Work with Director of Staff Development to ensure staff receive ministry training
  • Identify leaders who can step into leadership roles
  • Provide care and spiritual leadership for staff through working with Director of Staff Care and AIA Managing Director
  • Ensure MPD health of entire staff team and provide support and accountability in conjunction with the Director of Staff Partner Development
  • Live out Acts 6:4 (Direction, Devotion, Dependence) and equip staff to do the same

3. Contribute to overall success of AIA

  • Actively working with other domain leaders to ensure the AIA mission is being fulfilled
  • Lead up to AIA leaders and discern what the Spirit is saying for AIA as a whole
  • Provide spiritual leadership to AIA as a whole
  • Oversight and accountability of finances for your domain including managing budget, raising ministry funds
  • Track national measurements and identify whether your domain is effectively fulfilling the mission and living out the AIA values
  • Attend national events (Summit, Staff Conference) and support Grey Cup Breakfast and NTC

Education and Experience:

  • You have university degree or equivalent
  • You have experience leading and managing a team ideally in a ministry setting

Position Overview

All AIA Staff are responsible for aiding in the fulfillment of the mission and vision of Athletes in Action in their
respective spheres and beyond. Our hope is to see a world transformed by the gospel through sport and we
labour with God to see this happen.

During the campus season this role consists of helping those in varsity athletics discover Jesus, grow in their
faith, develop their unique potential and put their faith into action as they impact the world.

During the camp season this role consists of creating spaces for young children to hear and know Jesus
through the implementation of summer sport camps with partnering churches in the area. These sports
include soccer, basketball, volleyball and multi-sport . Through their position, coaches will engage with
athletes from the grassroots level, all the way to competitive athletes at the end of their high school careers.
Coaches will be expected to combat negative views of sport culture with the gospel, while inspiring churches
to reach their local community.

Primary Objectives:

1. Share the gospel and disciple to deeper maturity student athletes on their faith journey

  • In partnership with AthleteConnexion and working alongside your director, provide care for
    athletes through discipleship and evangelism opportunities.
  • Equip students to become spiritual leaders in training how to share their faith, identify gifts for
    kingdom impact and how to live out their Christian faith.
  • Assist with and attend National Training Camp, Retreat, and campus team meetings

2. Intentionally live out your faith and share your testimony to a variety of people

  • Apply age and skill appropriate teaching techniques for sport specific skills and physical
    literacy.
  • Work closely with the Regional Director, coaching team, church volunteers and additional AIA
    staff to ensure the children are cared for, the community is reached and the gospel shared.
  • Attend coach’s training, camp meetings and orientations.

3. Use your skills and abilities to help run a successful camp experience

  • Assist in organizing events to give more athletes an opportunity to hear about Jesus, become a
    part of AIA, or to make a decision to follow Jesus.
  • Assist in planning summer AIA Camps to help bring the gospel to children across the region.
  • Participate and present stories from ministry at both campus and camps team meetings

Education and Experience

  • You have bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • You have previous athletic interest or experience

Meet with ARM ministry leaders on an ongoing basis to train in management skills, effective evangelism and discipleship skills in the context of this ministry. There is an intentional reproduction plan to equip leaders to start an Addiction Recovery Ministry in churches.

Ensure the Development of Addiction Recovery Ministry (ARM) by coaching leadership and providing strong administrative support and infrastructure

Position Overview

The National Volunteer Coordinator will ensure that volunteers are effectively processed in line with Connecting Streams and P2C policies. The National Volunteer Coordinator will give leadership to localized volunteer coordinators and will ensure that volunteers are connected with, welcomed, and the application and clearance process are completed effectively.

Primary Objectives:

Operations Team Member

  • Fully engage on the Ministry Services Team to develop and implement strategic plans and achieve objectives
  • Work with Ministry Services team members to collaborate on tasks and projects to support CS staff
  • Intentionally pray for your team regularly

Volunteer Coordinators Leader

  • Ensure city volunteer coordinators are connecting with and processing new volunteers in a timely manner and bringing the process to completion
  • Train new volunteer coordinators on how to carry out the volunteer process
  • Ensure that all volunteer coordinators are familiar with and follow CS and P2C volunteer policies
  • Gather volunteer coordinators together on a regular basis to connect and support one another in their roles

Volunteer Process Manager

  • Oversee CS101 orientation curriculum and make any updates as needed for the ministry
  • Oversee national CS101 events online throughout the year as needed
  • Support local volunteer coordinators as they carry out CS101 orientation events on the ground
  • Process new volunteers for locations that do not have a city volunteer coordinator
  • If there is an active Connecting Streams team in the city in which they reside, the National Volunteer Coordinator will be involved in that city team through attendance at local CS events, team meetings, and to help represent CS where applicable.
  • Support local volunteer coordinators to ensure that annual statements are signed by volunteers and police check renewals are completed when required

Education and Experience

  • Recruit and maintain a team of CS intercessors to pray intentionally for CS ministry in Ottawa
  • Revise and send out prayer requests from teams to intercessors weekly using the CS Database

  • Work with other city staff to equip volunteers on how to pray and how to teach others to pray

The Site Editor in Chief may also be called upon to write or edit ministry reports, proposals, and newsletters for DS in consultation with the Content Strategist and Creative Director. This person will also help direct the English, French, and other language content teams.

Revise and Review Content

  • Ensure that all articles, photographs, and copy are edited for accuracy for the sites under his or her responsibility
  • Provide feedback to authors and editors, if needed, before content is published or released

Position Overview

The Marketing Director is responsible for all marketing for Digital Strategies with the goal of achieving the ministry mission and vision. He or she will work closely with the Content Strategist,  the Director of Mentoring Recruitment and Development, and P2C’s Marketing team to develop a fruitful marketing strategy for our ministry partners, our sites and our online mentoring programs. Primary Responsibilities

The Marketing Director will be held accountable for achieving the following objectives:

Increasing Online Traffic and Engagement

  • Engage Christians online and encourage them to sign up to become volunteer online mentors.
  • Increase traffic to Digital Strategies sites via online marketing.
  • Support international partners in their marketing development in their own cultural contexts
Developing and Executing Effective Marketing Strategy
  • Increase the number of online mentors to 5000 by the end of 2020.
  • Implement bold solutions for marketing strategy, with a willingness to pivot and innovate.
  • Work closely with the Digital Strategies Marketing Team, the Director of Mentoring Recruitment and Development, the Content Strategist and the Creative Director for strategy creation, development, and execution, leveraging each team member’s strengths.
  • Actively engage in listening to and collaborating with other Digital Strategies staff for ideas, concerns, and success stories, and adjusting promotions accordingly.
  • Develop a marketing strategy that has a long-term growth focus and short-term objectives and key results (OKRs) and that moves the ministry towards the vision and mission of Digital Strategies.
  • Ensure that Marketing staff and volunteers have a fruitful personal ministry of evangelism and discipleship.
Bearing witness to Digital Strategies & P2C’s Vision
  • Engage and commit to meeting strategic, ministry, and personal goals.
  • Understand and internalize the vision and mission of Digital Strategies and P2C.
Mentoring Online
  • Become an online mentor to understand and experience the heart of Digital Strategies’ ministry
Staff Care
  • Model consistent practice of spiritual disciplines and encourage the Marketing Team to practice them. This includes participation in devotions, Bible studies, and times of prayer organized by the ministry.
  • Encourage Marketing staff to develop a positive sense of wellbeing which enables them to meet ministry demands and the needs of their personal lives.

Education and Experience

  • Experience with marketing, SEO, Google Analytics, and other marketing tools
  • Familiarity with popular social media network marketing best practices (e.g. Facebook, YouTube)
  • Executing plans on a department-wide scale
  • Experience with G Suite and MailChimp is an asset
  • Effectively leading and working in a collaborative environment

Position Overview

The Chinese Digital Strategist/Mentor will be responsible for the mentoring and spiritual development of Chinese mentees who visit Digital Strategies’ Chinese-based websites. He/she will also work closely with the Director of Multicultural Ministries and other ethnic ministries to increase the efficacy and development of mentors, marketing, strategy, as well as a network of authors, translators and technicians for the Chinese sites.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible to achieve the following objectives:

Be part of the team (60%)

  • Attend weekly Digital Strategies’ Engage team meetings and weekly national chapel times
  • Collaborate with other Canadian ethnic ministries within Digital Strategies
  • Connect regularly with the Director of Multicultural Ministries for strategy, accountability and direction

Accelerate the Chinese ministry (30%)

  • Meet with potential ministry partners for the Chinese Ministry 
  • Promote and leverage opportunities for involvement to Chinese churches, groups, individuals, offline movements
  • Work with the Digital Strategies team in developing ministry-branded promotional materials in Chinese

Develop and maintain a team of ministry partners (10%)

  • Regularly communicate ministry updates, financial and prayer needs
  • Proactively engage with potential ministry partners

About You

The Mentor Program Coordinator is responsible for equipping new mentors and Mentor Coaches (experienced online mentors who support mentors) with what they need to effectively disciple and support our online missionaries. He/she will manage the entry-point for all new mentors and Mentor Coaches, ensuring successful processing and training. Under the guidance of the Director of Mentor Recruitment & Development, he/she will be responsible for executing a strategy to engage and retain mentors. Primary Objectives:

Execute effective communication strategies to engage Mentor Coaches

  • Execute a communication strategy to encourage, equip and engage Mentor Coaches
  • Provide 500 Mentor Coaches with accountability and support on a monthly basis
  • Engage Mentor Coaches in the larger DS community
Successfully and efficiently onboard new mentors  
  • Work with Mentor Admins to assess and streamline current onboarding process for mentors
  • Ensure new mentors are assigned to a Mentor Coach
  • Collaborate with Mentor Coaches to determine if new mentors can be vetted successfully in the 6-week coaching program
  • Work with Mentor Coaches to determine and execute on updates as necessary, i.e. specialized training, resources, templates, etc.
Develop strategy to engage, retain and scale mentors as a Team Player
  • Collaborate with Director of Mentor Recruitment & Development to develop, execute and scale mentor recruitment strategy for 5000 mentors by the end of 2020
  • Strategize with Mentoring Team about mentor retention, spiritual care, development, career path opportunities and processes for mentors
  • Consult with the marketing team to ensure that specific need-based promotion is taking place to the various audiences

Be involved as an online missionary

  • Completion of some post-secondary education in business or a related field, or a minimum of one year working in an administrative role
  • Experience communicating with a variety of people.  Experience working with the public.
  • Experience coordinating projects and assessing effectiveness of goal and priority setting (e.g. OKRs, WIGs)
  • Experience leading remote teams across digital platforms

Primary Objectives:

Disciple new mentors in TMM.io 

  • Help new mentors become proficient using mentor resources like the “Best Initial Response” template. 
  • Familiarize new mentors with tmm.io navigation, helping them understand and become comfortable with the software.
  • Guide new mentors to think long term about the spiritual state of their mentees and how to walk alongside mentees in the next step of their spiritual journey. 
  •  In a new mentor’s first 4-6 weeks, read their correspondence threads to evaluate how they are applying the training modules and guidelines, communicating these points. 
Provide Spiritual Encouragement, Discipleship and Assessment for new and existing Mentors
  • Pray for mentors.
  • Communicate to mentors the way we want them to communicate with mentees: expressing empathy & encouragement, asking questions & listening, offering hope, & typing out prayers for them.
  • Remind mentors, if needed, that the primary purpose of our ministry is to help people take the next steps on their spiritual journey; either on the way to knowing Christ personally or to walk more closely with Him.
  • Assist mentors in exploring various ways to address the next spiritual stage with the mentee and encourage the mentor to seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance in which approach they should use.
  • Help mentors encourage their mentees to gradually become multiplying disciples
  • Discern readiness of and invite mentors to consider multiplying themselves by becoming Mentor Coaches.
  • Continue to do check ups on Mentor correspondence to assess if they are applying the mentor training and guidelines.

The Administrative Assistant will assist in the oversight and planning of the Mentoring Team’s ministry. It will be his or her priority to ensure accurate documentation and communication of meeting notes and action steps. Provide quality and efficient administrative support to the mentoring team

  • Complete invoicing and liaise with clients to review and share stories and statistics
  • Assists the Director of Mentor Recruitment and Development with financial record-keeping and management as well as booking travel and tracking schedule as needed
  • Coordinate and help run team meetings efficiently, ensuring accurate and up-to-date minutes
Grow our team of online mentors by supporting our leaders

Position Overview

The Content Development Intern works primarily with the Content Team to develop online content and systems that maximize the discipleship and evangelistic reach of Digital Strategies’ websites, including issuesiface.com and thelife.com

Primary Objectives:

Collaborate with the Content Team to develop effective content and content strategy

  • Participate in monthly Content Strategy Meetings, coming prepared with ideas of content that the intern desires to write
  • Write content for either Issues I Face or The Life as decided by the whole team during the content meetings
  • Get to know the content team and seek opportunities to learn from each of them

Grow as a writer and content developer

  • Help write, edit, publish and promote daily devotionals and other content, such as newsletters and articles
  • Submit all content he or she produces for editing and suggestions, recognizing that this is the best way to improve as a writer
  • Seek to understand the needs of our online mentors as their needs help direct the type of content produced each month

Engage and contribute as a member of the greater Digital Strategies team

As part of the Communications team, the Video Editor is responsible for helping people experience Jesus by creating inspiring and innovative videos that promote the vision and heart of DRIME, showcase different ministry events & fundraising efforts, are used for partner & donor engagement, and compliment our equipping resources. This role also includes project assistance and administrative help with various communications initiatives.

Video & Communications (75%)

  • Work with the Communications team to create ministry and promotional videos by organizing filming and editing
  • Work with the Equipping department to create drama & training videos and put resources online (drama creation, scripts & tutorials, etc.)
  • Help manage resources to enable the projects of Creative Communications that contribute to our vision and goals

Position Overview:

The WFLI Director gives overall leadership to the Water for Life Initiative, providing vision and direction, overseeing program implementation and developing the required resources for the program in accordance with the values and mission of GAiN. The role of the Drilling and Technology Specialist is to ensure that our field partners have the appropriate level of support in drilling operations and procurement.  The Drilling and Technology Specialist provides valuable expertise and training on the efficient use of drilling equipment and best practices in drilling, while ensuring that drilling records are up-to-date and reviewed periodically.

Primary Outcomes

This role will be held accountable to achieve the following outcomes:

  1. Details of the WFLI Drilling Operations are well  managed  (40%)
  • Ensure equipment down-time is monitored and assessed through communication with the field and identification of issues, with emphasis on legacy drilling equipment (e.g. percussion rigs). Coordinate implementation of operational plans with drill teams.
  • Drilling data and statistics of wells are accounted for to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Data from field operations is analyzed and improvement opportunities are identified.

    2. Materials and supplies to the field arrive in a timely fashion to keep projects working smoothly (30%)

  • Forecast use and purchase supplies and equipment required by the WFLI teams in the field. This includes spare parts, reusable supplies and equipment such as vehicles.
  • Identify, engage and utilize the supplier network to ensure continuous rig operation.
  • Manage and update the equipment database to ensure that parts shipped from Canada, major repairs, and new equipment are entered into the system in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Monitor inventory levels of pumps, pipes and other supplies to ensure timely purchase and delivery, emphasis on Europe/Asia/Africa suppliers and legacy technology.

    3. Research, recommend and implement new equipment, systems and tools to safely and effectively improve the drilling process of the WFLI         (20%)

  • Develop local expertise through training of drill teams.  Develop technology sharing opportunities with experts in Africa, Asia and North America.
  • Identify and implement alternative drilling processes and technologies that could bring new efficiencies to the drilling operations.
  • Develop and pilot technical manuals with guidelines for drilling procedures, well development and material selection for well base and pump installation.
  • Develop and roll-out safety policies that ensure the well-being of field staff

     4. Field visits are conducted as needed, to ensure effective implementation of the program. (10%)

Economic Empowerment (EE) is one of three core strategies of GAiN. This newly created
strategy aims to alleviate poverty, unemployment, and lack of economic opportunities by
improving and securing their living income. We do this by raising overlooked talent,
invigorate the local entrepreneurial ecosystem and align available finances to
early-stage, small-scale startups so that they have dignified work, a stable living income
and a redemptive impact on society. This includes a stable and growing microfinance
program, a small business venture accelerator, vocational education and training. The
current programs are located in Paraguay and India, with plans to expand to other
countries in the near future.

GAiN is looking for a Program Coordinator to work in the Economic Empowerment core
strategy. Reporting to the Economic Empowerment Program Manager they will be part
of a small, but high performing team to research, develop and test out pilot projects and
continuously grow the Economic Empowerment program in partnership with our local
partners. The coordinator will also work cross functionally to ensure tasks are completed.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible to achieve the following objectives:

Program activities are implemented with effectiveness and efficiency (70%)
– Project activities are completed on time and within budget
– Monthly and quarterly reports from field partners are collected and analyzed
– Annual plans and budgets are set and managed along with the Economic
Empowerment Program Manager
– Novel economic empowerment projects for growth are developed in collaboration with

About the Role

The role of the Drilling and Technology Intern is to support our field partners in drilling operations and procurement.  The Drilling and Technology  Intern assists in developing field expertise on the efficient use of drilling equipment, while ensuring that drilling records are up-to-date and reviewed periodically.

Primary Outcomes

This role will be held accountable to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Data and analysis of the WFLI Drilling Operations is completed regularly  (50%)
    • Monitor equipment down time and assess equipment issues through communication with field teams. Coordinate implementation of operational plans with drill teams.
    • Quality-check and report drilling data and well statistics.
    • Analyze field operations data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Materials and supplies to the field arrive in a timely fashion to keep projects working smoothly (30%)
    • Forecast use of (and purchase) supplies and equipment required by the WFLI teams in the field, which includes spare parts, reusable supplies and equipment such as vehicles.
    • Identify alternate suppliers for common drilling consumables.
    • Manage and update the equipment database to ensure that purchased parts, major repairs, and new equipment are entered into the system in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Monitor inventory levels of pumps, pipes and other supplies to ensure timely purchase and delivery to the field from local and International suppliers
  • Research, recommend and implement new equipment, systems and tools to safely and effectively improve the drilling process of the WFLI (10%)

Position Overview

The Strategy and Operations Specialist will be overseeing several administrative processes and important national initiatives that help accelerate and support helping students live on mission. This key role will help steward the resources and people we have more effectively resulting in increased impact.

Primary Objectives:

  1. Lead the ministry in effective use of our volunteer ministry database and other ministry participant facing tools
    • Onboard and train staff in required use of Engage Spaces
    • Support users as first contact by addressing bugs and negotiating feature requests with developers as needed
    • Guide ministry towards adoption of user facing tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness
    • Ensure effective rollout and use of our Strategic Planning Process in the various departments and local campus teams
  2. Manage our alumni initiative
    • Invite our alumni to an engaging community to help continue their faith growth they experienced as a student

Campus staff, serving with Power to Change – Students, can expect to work at one or multiple universities under a local team leader to accomplish our purpose of helping students take their next steps towards Jesus. Though day-to-day activities may vary in each local context, ministry stage, and/or strategy, campus staff will engage in one-on-one and small group evangelism, discipleship, and teaching. Campus staff will also have the opportunity to receive and participate in ministry skill development, training, leadership, strategy deployment, resource development, conferences, campus outreach, and other missional activities critical to helping students discover Jesus and become life-long labourers for Christ.

Responsibilities:

  1. Live out our kingdom objectives with your team (Face-to-face ministry) – 55%
  • Create opportunities for engagement with students while believing God for great things
  • Mobilize students to be Christ-centered labourers growing in Christ-like character
  • Develop students to be able to multiply themselves spiritually and be able to start new movements anywhere in the world
  • Be active and take the initiative in sharing your faith
  1.  Plan and prepare for effective ministry – 25%
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings and New Staff training
  • Complete any homework and/or training assignments as prescribed by your trainer on time and with excellence
  • Plan well for discipleship and leadership opportunities
  • Understand and complete any administrative tasks related to your position in a timely and professional manner (emails, reimbursements, HR forms, registrations, submitting measurements, etc.)

As an international intern you would be placed on a team with one of our overseas partnerships. You would come alongside long-term missionaries and local believers to help university students engage in the life-changing message of the gospel! This experience includes cross-cultural and contextualized ministry training prior to departure and throughout the year. International interns participate in language classes and seek to build friendships and integrate into the local campus community. Positions are available in various areas.
