Who Is NEXT?
The NEXT Initiative seeks to do three main things:
- Help Grade 12 and incoming university/college students connect with local Christian community.
- Host the NEXT Steps Awards program, offering financial support to incoming university/college students.
- Give support to Youth Leaders as they mentor and walk with their students as they transition to their next life stage.
The NEXT Initiative is part of Power to Change – Students, a ministry for college and university students across Canada.
We help students take their next step towards Jesus.
We are ordinary people making sense of life in light of Jesus. His very good news is always relevant to our everyday lives. No matter where you’re starting from, we want to help students like you take your next step towards him.
P2C-Students offers students three main things:
- Connection with community
- A place to live on mission
- Spaces to grow and be equipped

Our Team

Anton
Anton graduated from McMaster University in 2007 with a degree in Math. During his time there, he discovered the importance of finding a community to grow in his faith journey—one of the best decisions of his life. It was also at McMaster that he met his wife, Roslyn. Today, they share a busy and joyful life together with their four children, a dog, a cat, and a growing flock of chickens.
Since graduating, Anton has worked with students at the University of Alberta, McMaster University, Western University, and Georgian College. Now, as part of NEXT, an initiative of Power to Change – Students, he helps students find meaningful community and take their next steps in following Jesus. His passion lies in guiding young people to grow in their faith and discover their purpose.
In his spare time, Anton enjoys keeping up with the latest NHL news and getting lost in a good book.

Rolf
Rolf is a go-getter who thrives on adventure and getting things done. An outdoor enthusiast, his extended family affectionately calls him “Mountain Man.” While his hometown of Hamilton does have a “mountain,” it’s really just a hill — 🤦🏼♂️, but still great for his passions: hiking and mountain biking.
Rolf is passionate about helping people find hope and direction by exploring the relevance of Jesus in all aspects of life. He has served in Asia, worked with students at McMaster University, and served as a national field team director. Now, he helps lead P2C-S’s NEXT initiative, which supports youth leaders and post-secondary-bound students in connecting with Christian communities at their future colleges and universities.
Above all, Rolf loves the Lord, being a husband and a dedicated father to his three kids. His favourite food? Definitely Thai. And here’s a fun fact: as a child, he actually wore wooden shoes (clogs)!

Laurie
Laurie began her post-secondary education at the University of Toronto as a brand new follower of Christ. She discovered the joys of not only growing personally in this new relationship but also helping others discover Jesus. After graduating in 1981 with a degree in French Language & Lit, Laurie has dedicated much of her life to serving students with P2C-Students, whether it be “en français” in Montreal and Ottawa, or through a variety of regional and national behind-the-scenes roles.Today, she is part of the Creative Communications department and serves on the editorial team as well as helping out with NEXT communications.
Though she grew up in Ottawa, Laurie now calls Guelph home. Her heart home, however, is found in the Thirty Thousand Islands (Georgian Bay), surrounded by friends and family. She is passionate about books, yarn and thread, Northern Spy apples, freshly picked corn on the cob, coffee and conversation with friends, and her great-nieces and nephews (currently scattered across Canada and around the world). And Jesus. Always, most of all, Jesus.
