Ending Poverty Together
The first day of Break Forth One is devoted to personal and professional development through a day-long, pre-conference workshop.
Join Paula Cornell, facilitator with Food for the Hungry and community programs manager at The Mustard Seed, in her “Poverty Boot Camp.” This workshop provides an interactive learning environment to create an understanding of the origins of poverty, a realization that there is a recommended solution to poverty, and an opportunity to develop a healthy personal response to issues of poverty.
Opening Assembly
Following this workshop we’ll be gathering together for the Opening Assembly with Hillsong Worship and Albert Tate. Albert is the founding pastor of one of the fastest growing multi-ethnic churches in the United States. Blending the power of storytelling with a great sense of humour, Albert is passionate about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ both to the local church and the global community. Learn how you too can find this passion to spread God’s work even further!

Class A: Does God Endorse Violence and Genocide in the Old Testament?
Spend your morning with Joshua Ryan Butler, author and pastor of Imago Dei Community in Portland, OR, as he explores violence in the Old Testament, particularly the apparent genocide in Canaan. In this class, you’ll take a closer look at these passages to confirm some popular caricatures, revealing not only that these passages do not depict genocide, but are surprisingly a great source of hope.
